About Smart Light Switches
At TECH4 you’ll find a wide range of smart light switches. Most of our smart light switches are fully compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home Assistant.
We also have some switches that work with Apple Homekit.
TYPES OF SMART SWITCHES
There are two main types of smart light switch.
1. Direct replacement mains powered smart light switch such as the Iotty Smart Light Switch that replaces your existing wall light, these are the easiest but they do require you to have a deep back box and a neutral at the light switch.
2. Wireless light switches with smart receiver combination such as ENER-J Switch & Receiver Bundle. With this type you generally remove your existing light switch, cap it off, fit the new wireless switch over the existing hole and then install a smart receiver unit in the ceiling at the first light fitting. Both systems are good and it really depends on your existing wiring or if you are wiring from scratch. Direct replacement smart light switches are usually best when wiring a house from scratch as you can allow for the deep back box and neutral.
SCENES & SCHEDULES
The goal with smart lighting is to make life easier, more comfortable and more convenient.
With a smart light switch connected to your external lighting for instance you’ll be able to set them to turn on and off at preset times automatically.
You can also create lighting scenes, at the touch of a button or through voice control you can turn multiple lights on to different light levels in one go. This is great for kitchens and larger rooms with multiple lighting circuits, no need to press 10 switches to set the scene!
GEOLOCATION & HOLIDAY MODES
With geolocation your smart home will know if you are in or away from your home. This means you can easily trigger events based on your location. If for example you are on your way home from work, once you enter a preset distance around your home your smart light switches will activate a scene and turn your lights on. So when you arrive home your porch and hallway lights can be on ready for you.
Holiday timers mean you can turn lights on and off at preset times to make it look like you are home, preventing the risk of burglaries.
