How And Why We Use Your Data

You've no doubt heard about GDPR by now! Data Protection is very important to us, that's why I'm writing a real-life data policy myself.

Some of the bits below are from a professional template, but this bit is from me, Craig Walker - Managing Director of K&B Audio (Tech 4 Homes Ltd)

So.... what data do we collect and why do we need it? I hear you ask..

What Data We Collect

If you place an order with us we'll ask for the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Your Billing Address
  • Your Delivery Address (if Different)
  • Your Phone Number
  • Your Email Address

If you call us and request a quote or anything that requires us to do something for you, we'll need:

  • Your Name
  • Your Phone Number
  • Your Email Address

If you sign up to our mailing list we'll ask for:

  • Your Name
  • Your Email Address

What Do We Use The Data For & Where Do We Keep It

If You Place An Order

If you place an order with us then your details will be stored on our secure website system and within our accounting software (for the invoice).

We use your address to get your goods to you.

Your e-mail address is used to send order update notifications throughout the process. You'll also get a review request via Reviews.co.uk - this is a closed system that only we have access to and is used solely for review requests, these request emails have an opt out.

If you checked the "Subscribe To Newsletter" box then we'll add you to our mailing list where you'll receive regular, relevant, emails - no more than once a week.

We do not automatically add any email address to the system and the subscribe box is un-ticked as default.

If You Call Us

If you call us and want us to do something for you then we'll need to know who you are and how to contact you.

Your details will be added to our internal messaging system which we use to keep track of all requests.

We will then call you back or email you with whatever action you've asked for.

We do not add these details to our website, or accounts software unless you ask for a quote/invoice.

We do not add your email address to our mailing list.

Once your enquiry is dealt with we archive the card, these archives are still accessible in our system if required but are not used or transferred to any other systems.

If You Sign Up To Our Mailing List

If you choose to sign up to our mailing list then your email and name will be added to MailChimp.

We then send regular and relevant emails, no more than one a week.

We will never, ever sell your data or use it for anything else. We don't even share the data with our own brands. We have multiple websites and each has a separate mailing list.

We've been as transparent as possible, and to be honest we've not had to change much for GDPR as we've always closely looked after our customers data.
